Aldo Silvera, Secretary, NHCCH

Aldo Silvera is co-founder and President of Home Medical Specialties, Inc., a regional provider of home medical equipment and oxygen therapy, based in Queens, New York. Home Medical Specialties is accredited by the Joint Commission on the accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO).

Mr. Silvera holds an Associate degree in Applied Sciences with a concentration in Respiratory Therapy and an undergraduate degree in Health Care administration from St. Joseph’s College in Brooklyn, New York.

In 2002, Mr. Silvera received a certificate from the Harvard University Center for Management Research, which trains senior executives in leadership.

Throughout his career in healthcare he has worked in a managerial capacity in several medical centers, including: St. Vincent Medical Center , Lenox Hill Hospital , Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Weiler Division, and Elmhurst Hospital Center; and in the for-profit sector, with corporations such as: Homedco (now Apria), and Central Homecare.

Mr. Silvera is an active member of the Association of Hispanic Healthcare Executives (AHHE), and serves on the governing board of the National Hispanic Chamber of Commerce on Health. He also served on Community Planning Board 8 ( Queens, NY), where he was appointed to the Transportation Committee. He is an active member of the American Association of Respiratory Care.

Mr. Silvera was born in Colombia and grew up in New York City. He is married with three children. Mr. Silvera is a driven entrepreneur with a strong commitment to the advancement of education for young Latinos.

For pleasure, Mr. Silvera enjoys studying music, history, philosophy, and he is an avid follower of geopolitical affairs.
