The Associate Hospital Director, Professional Services is a newly created position overseeing Pharmacy, Laboratory and Pathology Services, Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology, Clinical Neurophysiology, Radiation Medicine, Rehabilitation Therapy Services and Hospital Facilities Management. Saint Francis Memorial Hospital – San Francisco, CA

Founded by physicians in 1905, Saint Francis Memorial Hospital is a 359-licensed bed, not-for-profit, acute care hospital serving a diverse and densely populated area in downtown San Francisco.  Located atop Nob Hill, the hospital offers an array of clinical Centers of Excellence to serve local and regional populations.  Saint Francis is a member of Catholic Healthcare West (CHW), the nation’s third largest Roman Catholic healthcare provider and the largest not-for-profit health care system in California.

Saint Francis has been a major provider of healthcare to the San Francisco community for over 100 years. Its Centers of Excellence include the Bothin Burn Center, internationally recognized and the only tertiary acute burn facility in San Francisco;  Center for Sports Medicine; pioneers in sports medicine since 1979,  it is the premier sports medicine provider in the Bay Area and among the leading facilities in the country; San Francisco Spine Center, a multi-disciplinary approach to the treatment of spine and neck injuries; Occupational Medicine Services, offers outpatient services and specialized care for work-related and repetitive stress injuries; Total Joint Center,  a program dedicated to knee and hip replacement patients; and  San Francisco Center for Wound Healing, an outpatient program that provides intensive wound healing modalities to treat hard to heal wounds.  In addition, Saint Francis has a strong oncology program and planning is in place to strengthen it further with affiliation with a similar program at another nearby CHW sponsored hospital.  One of six hospitals providing inpatient care in San Francisco proper, Saint Francis has established a long-term tradition for being a “physicians’ hospital.”  The organization is governed locally by a dedicated 18-member Board of Trustees, a majority of whom are members of the medical staff with the remainder of the Board composed of prominent local business and community leaders along with representatives of Catholic Healthcare West. 

The President leads the management, operations, programs, finance and quality of services provided by Saint Francis Memorial Hospital.  He/she reports dually to the President, Group Operations for CHW and to the Board of Trustees of Saint Francis Memorial Hospital. The desired candidate will be a seasoned executive with a combination of leadership skills, acute healthcare management experience, and a previous history of success in a competitive and complex managed care market. The individual should have excellent physician relations skills and a track record of solid physician recruitment and creative marketing and business and program development. Experience in a multi-site healthcare system is preferred. Candidates will have proven leadership capability and must enjoy building strong partnerships with employees, managers, physicians, board members, and community organizations. The ability to work effectively in a unionized setting is a plus. The individual will have a successful track record of providing leadership for continuous quality and performance improvement.

Vice President of Facilities and Support Services

A very unique and challenging opportunity exists for a dynamic, resourceful and creative facilities professional at the Cambridge Health Alliance (CHA).  Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Vice President of Facilities and Support Services (VPFSS) is responsible for the departmental operations and financial performance of the Departments of the Plant/Facility Operations, Security, Parking, Transportation, Foodservice and Environmental Services at all CHA locations.  The VPFSS will also work with the executive management team in relation to space planning and capital committees.

This key position is in charge of over 300 FTEs, an operating budget in excess of $36 million, and an annual infrastructure capital budget in excess of $3-5 million.  Areas of ongoing focus include parking and the infrastructure requirements found in older facilities.  

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will be an energetic and responsive facilities professional committed to patient safety, customer service and team leadership.  The best candidate will have strong communication skills with an ability to establish and develop relationships among customers, vendors and staff.  Experience with expense management and capital budgets is required, as is familiarity with labor relations and human resource management.

A bachelor’s degree is necessary for the role, with a master’s degree strongly preferred.  Five to 8 years of facilities/support services experience (with at least 5 years in a healthcare setting) is also needed, with specific knowledge of life safety, OSHA and other pertinent codes and regulations.

Health Center Administrative Director

St. Joseph Health Services of Rhode Island

St. Joseph Health Services of Rhode Island (the “System”) seeks a collaborative, energetic and enthusiastic leader as Administrative Director of The Center for Health and Human Services (the “Health Center”).  The Administrative Director reports to the System’s Chief Operating Officer.  The Health Center is an integrated model of primary care and specialty clinics serving the area’s economically disadvantaged and minority populations.  Its nationally recognized pediatric dental program serves thousands of children each year.  The Health Center has a total operating budget of $7.5 million and annual patient volume of approximately 50,000.  The 120 member staff is multicultural and multilingual, reflecting the population it serves.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate is a compassionate and personable self-starter, with strong relationship building skills.  S/he is able to communicate effectively with staff, patients and Board members, and has a track record for providing excellent customer service.  The Health Center Director plays a lead role in the Health Center and Hospital-wide strategic planning as a member of the Leadership Operations Council, and must possess an aptitude for business development, marketing and public relations.

The best candidate is committed to community and public health, and to addressing the health and social service needs of the disadvantaged.  A minimum of 5 years of experience managing a multi-site/multi-specialty clinic is required, as is experience in grant writing, contract negotiations, and labor relations.  A master’s degree in Public Health or Business Administration is strongly preferred.
